Mark. Total Face Palette | Review & Swatches

Remember this amazing palette from my "Haul-iday from Mark." post a couple weeks ago? Seriously, how adorable is this Mark. Total Face Palette*? It would make a great gift for young beginners.

It looks small & understated when it's all closed up, but inside there's 22 fun shades to play with. With 16 eyeshadows, four lip glosses, and two blushes, you'll be able to create a look for any occasion.

It is neatly packaged in a plastic compact with a sound lock. There's also a large built-in mirror and three applicators for on-the-go application.

Like I said there are 16 eyeshadows, they're the first thing you see when you open up the compact. The shades vary in colour, pigmentation, and finish. Most of the shades apply fairly smooth (though there is the occasional patchiness). Some of my favourite shades are the neutrals and the deep purple. Least favourite would be the matte grey shade (bottom right) -- pigmentation was lacking & it was very patchy.

Here are swatches of all 16 shadows. Each set of swatches correlates to a column from top to bottom.

When you slide over the eyeshadow trays, you get the four lip glosses. The glosses are fairly sheer with little pigment, but they're not overly sticky. There's a nice range of shades: a coral, a pink, a berry, and a neutral. They last as long as typical glosses do, about 2-3 hours (barring eating / drinking).

When you slide open the last tray, you get the blushes and the applicators. The applicators are nothing to write home about, but they never really are. On the other hand, the two blushes (a peach and a pink) are pretty nice. Good pigmentation, smooth application and impressive lasting power (about 7-8 hours on me).

The only thing I don't like about this palette, is the placement of the powders with the glosses. The close proximity may allow some powder to get into the lip glosses. It's an easy fix, though. When playing with the the shadows or blushes, I make sure to hide the gloss trays.

l-r: peach (heavily swatched & blended out), pink (heavily swatched & blended out)

A quick mix of neutrals & purples for the eyes, a mix of pink & berry on the lips, and both blushes on the cheeks

This palette isn't for everyone. While the overall quality is nice, seasoned makeup enthusiasts won't be that impressed. However, if you're looking for a palette to gift to someone just beginning their affair with makeup -- this would be a nice choice.

  2. Love your FOTD!
I am not very into a palette where lippies are housed together, but this would be handy for travel for sure. :)

  3. love the look! i always find that i get a bit overwhelmed by these mega palettes. they have so many colors which is good for if you're starting out or if you just need that one thing that has everything but more oftan than not, i'll forget what's in them and they'll just sit there which is too bad. there are some quite nice ones out there.

  4. I love how compact this is! I like the idea of this a lot better than those huge all in one palettes that Sephora brings out! :)
