Magnum Pleasure StoreSunday, July 28, 2013
I finally made my way over to the Magnum Pleasure Store nestled on Bloor Street (across from Holt Renfrew). For those who haven't been, it's a pop-up shop where you can design your own Magnum ice cream bar.
For $6, you can completely customize your bar. You choose the type of ice cream, the coating, the drizzle, and any of the 21 toppings available. The line-up was about an hour wait in what turned out to be a brief downpour of rain, but it was worth it :).
I went with vanilla ice cream, a white coating, and a milk chocolate drizzle. As for toppings, I wasn't too experimental with it. I went with Goji berries, culinary rose petals, dried strawberries, macadamia nut pieces, crumbled French Macarons, chopped hazelnuts, and chopped almonds. It was so yummy!
The beau went with vanilla ice cream, a milk chocolate coating, and a milk chocolate drizzle. He was a bit more adventurous with his toppings than me. He went with Goji berries, culinary rose petals, macadamia nut pieces, white chocolate vermicelli, crumbled French Macarons, chopped hazelnuts, crumbled biscuit, chocolate flakes, chopped almonds, rice krispies, toffee bits, honeycomb, and bacon bits. He said it was delicious, but he found the bacon bits a little salty.. and weird to be an ice cream topping. Although, the Pleasure Makers (that what the ice cream artists called themselves) said bacon bits was a pretty popular topping!
Originally, Magnum was supposed to close up shop today, but they've just extended their opening until the end of the Summer (August 30th). So, be sure to stop by & design your own bar... or, you know, go again! And if you have already gone, please let me know your toppings of choice! :) x
