Becca Luminous Skin Colour

I've only recently begun my foray into Becca Cosmetics. I've heard amazing things about their Shimmering Skin Perfector, so when a counter opened at a Sephora near me (at the Eaton Centre), I had to check out the line in person.

After testing and swatching various products, I was really drawn to the Becca Luminous Skin Colour Ultra-Sheer Foundation SPF25.

I am quite hesitant to call this a "foundation" because it's far from it. Upon application, it sits on the skin much like a tinted moisturizer. Becca was right in labeling it ultra-sheer. It only offers a very light wash of colour to the skin.

I happen to love that aspect of this product. I'm never one for a face product that offers medium / heavy coverage... but if that's you, then this is definitely not for you.

The Becca Luminous Skin Colour is easy to layer, but the coverage isn't buildable. Also, it doesn't cover hyper-pigmentation, discolouration, or severe redness very well.

What does it do? Well, it does offer a light luminous finish. It looks very natural on the skin. Even after two layers, it doesn't look noticeable on the skin. It also doesn't bunch up in the creases.

The product itself is very lightweight. It's mainly water-based and doesn't have a thick consistency.

Since this product is so sheer, you'll find that you will fit into a range of shades. For myself, I could have gone with Camel, Olive, or Nude. I ended up choosing Nude because it was the most neutral of the three shades & it offered the most radiant finish.

The price is higher than most tinted moisturizer-like products at $51 (for 50ml).

This is not a product for people who have oily / combination skin because of the finish. Now, I have normal / combination skin (oiliness on my forehead). I can get away with wearing this because I always prep my face with Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner, which mattifies my skin and prevents my skin from getting oily throughout the day. Or you could also set your face with a setting powder.

I wouldn't recommend this foundation to everyone. I personally love it because it gives a beautiful glow / radiance to the skin, but it's not for those who are more comfortable with a bit more coverage.

If you're wondering, here's the makeup I'm wearing in the finished look:
Blush, Shu Uemura P385 & P560 | Lips, Burberry Lip Velvet Pink Amber | Corrector, Armani #2 | Concealer, Garnier Anti-Dark Circle roller

What's you favourite face product of the moment? x

  1. I ordered this foundation yesterday, I just hope it won't be too moisturizing and dewy for my oily skin. I was aware of the sheer finish though, which is fine for me because sometimes I like a more natural and sheer foundation. Thanks for the review!

    1. I love the sheer finish because it gives a really natural finish! You may have to set it with a powder. I found that when I wore it alone, I would have to blot at least once throughout the day. Other than that, it held up great :) x

  4. Aleeza do you use the light or medium shade in the garnier concealor?

    1. I can pull off both, actually. But I chose the medium shade because on the box it said it was for dark circles (which I unfortunately have) x

  5. This was actually the first foundation I ever bought. That was about 7 years ago. It was a great first foray into the world of foundations. It was easy to apply and evened out my skin without being too heavy. I didn't repurchase since my skin was way more acne prone back then and I needed more coverage, but I'm interested to see how this would work for me now.

  6. I'm excited about Becca becoming available in Canadian Sephoras. From what I hear some stores, even if the counter isn't set up, already have the products in the backstore. I can't wait to try the Shimmering Skin Perfector! This foundation would unfortunately be too light for me, but the luminous finish is very nice!

  8. The finish looks beautiful - brightening but not shiny or oily in any way. It looks like it gives a really soft, diffused finish. I've not tried many Becca products but I do want to give their Shimmering Skin Perfector a go - I've heard nonstop raves about it :)
