Summer Beauty Meltdowns

The first official day of summer is just around the corner. The warm weather calls for easy makeup, easy hairstyles, and a pared down wardrobe. Summer is one of my favourite seasons (granted there's only four), but it also has a dark side... Summer heat, humidity, chlorine from the pool, sun rays, and drying central air conditioning.

With summer approaching it makes sense to make a few changes to your beauty regimen. Certain types of makeup hold up better in the summer heat, so, here's your summer checklist:

  • Oil-free foundation, tinted moisturizer with SPF, or oil-absorbing makeup
  • Blotting paper, mattifying lotion, or oil-free powder
  • Bronzers with undertones of gold or copper to give the face a healthy glow
  • Powder blush (to help absorb oil) or cream blush (for drier skin)
  • Waterproof mascara
  • Lip gloss or lipstick in sheerer shades
  • Conditioning shampoo and conditioner (better yet, shampoo less often and letting your hair air dry)
  • Sunscreen
  • Primer (great if you find that moisturizer slides off your face)

Here are a few product suggestions to cope with common summer beauty meltdowns:

Here's to enjoying the joys of summer and looking fabulous! x

  1. What a great post! I have to switch to something different, the MAC foundation and concealer I use is too heavy especially for summer. I want that coverage that often times a tinted moisturizer doesn't give, however I don't want to be oily and melting all day...any suggestions??

    1. I'm not a huge foundation person, so unfortunately, I don't know have any personal experience to share. One of my friends swears by the Maybelliene Dream Liquid Mousse for the summer. I would recommend a mattifying primer though. Even I use a primer in the summer because my combination skin can really glisten in the summer. The primer will help. Also, how do you feel about powder/mineral foundation? They're kind of a summer hero product for me.

    1. Sephora takes FOREVER for shipping! Seriously. Annoying. I once waited almost a month for an order! Hopefully you get yours any day now! The average is usually a couple weeks. Ps, can't wait to read your post! x

  3. Aleeza do you prefer the missha perfect cover bb cream or the garnier one? I really want to try the missha but have heard that the floral scent is pretty overpowering :(

    1. I would say I prefer the Missha BB cream! I would've recommended it but it's harder to get than a drugstore brand. To tell you the truth, I haven't had any issues with the scent. I don't even notice it. I'm very insensitive to smell though -- only certain scents really bug me. x

    1. There are two versions of the packaging, US has SPF on it and Canada does not. I was told by a Garnier Rep that the Canadian version still contains SPF on it, but reading the ingredients, there's no sign that there is :/
