NOTD #8: Rainbow Glitter

I have fallen in love with the look of glitter over a dark base, like butter LONDON The Dark Knight.

I did a DIY version. It's simple yet the effect is gorgeous. All you need is dark colour and a glitter polish.

I used Essie Licorice (a creamy, jet black) and Nicole by OPI Rainbow in the S-Kylie (rainbow glitter). The glitter polish is actually from the Kardashian collection.

I'm not a fan of the name but the polish is amazing! This is more similar to Deborah Lippman Happy Birthday than Wet'n'Wild Party of Five.

This feels quite heavy on the nail. Granted there are about six layers of nail polish. A base coat, two coats of the black, two coats of the glitter, and then a layer of top coat.

No matter because I love how this looks!!

Did you pick up any colours from the Kardashian line? The glitter was the only one that really caught my eye. The rest were just OK.

  1. I LOVE glitter polish !
    I'm going to do the same ! ;)

  2. I have the same problem with glitter polishes, since I also tend to layer them over a base. The nail feels really heavy, and also peels off really easily. The last time I did a glittery look, I had four coats of glitter, a base, and a top coat, and after a couple days, I had entire nails of nailpolish coming off whole...

    Still, I love the look! :)

  3. I just did this combo on my nails today!! Black and a glitter top!!!

  4. aaah I LOVE this! I love glitter you already knew this lol but this is amazing! I might actually go out and buy that glittery polish. I actually prefer your version to Dark Knight to be honest :)

  5. @Anne Lise I am quickly becoming obsessed with glitter! :)

    @FashionFreak/Mihaela Thank you :)

    @Kristy It peels so easily! I usually can get only a day or two before the chipping starts. And you're so right! It all just comes off in one piece. I'm a nail-polish-peeling junkie, so I love/hate when it happens

    @Abby Thanks! The glitter is amazing!

    @Naghmeh Thanks! You know, I like this much better than Dark Knight too! I prefer the junkie glitter, and it's much more obvious on the nail :).
