April Julep Box - Classic With a Twist

Written by:

Just wanted to share the polishes I received in my Julep box for the month of April. I don't remember if I checked out the other boxes for this month, but I ended up getting classic with a twist as per my style quiz.

This month's box was super cute. First off, there were little chocolate Easter eggs (that were delicious, by the way) and there was also some toe spacers because this month's box has a pedicure theme.

There was a pedi creme, aplty named The Best Pedi Creme Ever!. It is supposed to exfoliate with alpha hydroxy acids, hydrate with shea butter and coconut oil, and nourish with vitamin E.

The two colours I received are Mandy and Susie.

Mandy

Mandy is a bright, deep coral-pink. It's a creme polish that is opaque in one coat. It applies beautifully and I love the vibrant colour.

Overall:
Colour: ♥♥♥♥♥
Application: ♥♥♥♥
Lasting Power: ♥♥♥♥

Susie

Susie is a gorgeous mint green. I love this colour. It reminds me of Essie Mint Candy Apple. It is a little finicky to apply. Streaky with one coat, but evens out with a second layer.

Overall:

Colour: ♥♥♥♥♥
Application:
 ♥♥♥♥♥
Lasting Power: ♥♥♥♥

I love both of these colours and I'm excited to wear them.

NOTD #30: China Glaze Flying Dragon (Neon)

Written by:

I got this polish in my March Luxe Box and it was such a unique colour, that I had to wear it as soon as possible.

It's from the neon line, which means that it dries to a semi-matte finish. It definitely looks best with a top coat. I usually like matte polishes but some colours look best with a glossy finish. This polish is one of them.

I like the colour -- it a beautiful magenta colour with tons of purple/blue microglitter. It's very colourful and I am loving it.

Overall:

Colour: ♥♥♥♥♥
Application: ♥♥♥♥
Lasting Power: ♥♥♥♥

xx

Wishlist 04/05/12

These are some of the items I've been lusting lately:

1. Illamasqua blushes. I really wish they were available in Canada. I've been dying to try them. I found that the official website for Illamasqua does ship to Canada. It's free shipping on orders over £75, otherwise it's £8.50. The blushers also run for £16.50. With the currency conversion (as of right now), it's around $26 CAD. Reasonable. I would place an order right now but I'm not sure what colours to get. Nothing beats being able to swatch them in person.

2. Dior Addict Extreme in Saint Tropez. I've been eyeing this lipstick ever since I saw it on Jess's (from Don't Call Me Jessie) blog. It's a beautiful peachy/pink colour. Plus the packing is adorable.

3. Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer. This is supposed to be the really versatile. You can use it for concealing, highlighting, or as a sheer to full coverage foundation. I've heard good/bad things about this but if it conceals the way people say it does, then I want it in my life.

4. Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Moist Glow. I love cream blushes, especially in the summer. I'm told that Kevyn Aucoin has a beautiful formula and acts more like a gel than a cream.

5. Givenchy Poudre Croisière Healthy Glow Powder. First of all, it looks beautiful. Secondly, I am a sucker for bronzer almost as much as I am for blush. Naturally, I want this in my collection.

6. Lancôme Rouge in Love in Corail in Love 322m. I am loving peachy/pink/coral lipsticks at the moment. I like the formula of this new line -- they aren't drying and they also leave a little bit of a stain on the lips.

What are some items on your wishlist (maybe some that I can add to mine also)? xx

Get Ready With Me feat. Chanel Vitalumière (04/04/05)

Written by:

I have quite a few breakouts/blemishes right now, so I figured I would try a sample I received of the Chanel Vitalumière foundation. I typically don't wear foundation, so I have limited experience with them. Here's a novice's take on it...

Products Used:
Chanel Vitalumiere foundation in 40 Beige
MAC Select Cover Up Concealer NW35
Laura Mercier Setting Powder + Chanel #1 Powder Brush
Chanel Bronzer Universal + Kabuki Brush (the Body Shop)
Cargo Lash Activator (sample from my March Luxe Box) + Chanel Eyelash curler
NARS Dolce Vita blush + Chanel #4 blush brush
Benefit Hoola + MAC 109
Chanel Glossimer #159 Petillant

P.S., the Vitalumiere didn't last very long. Only about 4 hours. Plus it oxidized a smidge on my skin.

March 2012 Glossybox

Written by:

I finally received my Glossybox! Actually, I received it last week but haven't had the time to blog about it til now.

The boxes were a little late to come this month so I was anxiously waiting for it to arrive.

I was pleased with the variety of products in this box. There were six products in total:

* Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion - a handy travel sized tube that's perfect for your purse. I really enjoy Aveeno products and I've owned this particular one before.

* Sebastian Re-Shaper Hairspray - Did they change their packaging? I own a hairspray from this company but it's in a white can. Well, if it is the same, then it works great! Provides hold but doesn't make your hair feel crunchy.

* Pandora's Blush in St. Tropez - The name consists of two of my favourite things: the jewelry designer and the vacation destination. Plus, it's a blush! I like the packaging -- it's not as luxe as I typically go for but it's cute! It's cardboard and has a magnetic closure. Also the blush pan actually pops out rather easily so you can place it in your own palette. The colour is nice, it's pretty pink/berry colour that I think will flatter most skin tones.

* Evian Facial Spray - I love facial mists like this. I typically use Avene but I also like the Evian one. I used to bring one along with me on plane rides all the time -- now I don't bother because I never know how strict the airport security will be. It's great for dry skin, it's refreshing and also helps set your makeup.

* Bailey Fresh Lip Gloss in Pink - I like the packaging and the doe foot applicator of this gloss. It is rather sheer on the lips, but moisturizing. It's a pretty everyday gloss. No muss, no fuss.

* Algemarin Foam Bath - A single packet of bubble bath that contains seaweed extracts, algae, and mineral salts. Perfect after a long day! I love baths.

Overall, I'd say this was worth the wait. I like the variety of products I received. I also have never tried a couple of these brands, so I like being introduced to new products.

Did you like your box? xx

NOTD #29: China Glaze Dress Me Up

Written by:

I've been giving my nails a little break from polish lately, but I think they've rested enough.

This is another polish from the Hunger Games collection.

I adore colours like this -- the dusty rose kind. I was surprised that I didn't have a dupe in my collection. The most similar (yet lighter) shade I own is Essie Eternal Optimist.

Dress Me Up applies opaque, but it still looks best with two coats. I adore this colour, it's definitely not unique, but I adore it.

Overall:

Colour: ♥♥♥♥♥
Application: ♥♥♥♥
Lasting Power: ♥♥♥♥

Ps, I'm wearing Deborah Lippmann Some Enchanted Evening as an accent nail.

Success! A picture a day for the month of March (for the most part).

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

P.S., Happy April Fools' day! I woke up to snow and had to give props to Mother Nature. Great joke. Snow in April, hilarious.
